Brief Bio - May 2022

Rev. Seth Carrier-Ladd is currently concluding his time serving as the interim minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead. Prior to that, he served as the settled minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie, in Muncie, IN for seven years. A life-long Unitarian Universalist, he grew up attending the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence in western Mass. He received his bachelor’s degree from Union College and received his Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School in 2011. As part of his studies at Union, Seth spent his entire junior year abroad in Japan, living primarily with a homestay family near the city of Osaka. Post-graduation, he worked for six months in London, before settling down in Philadelphia to work in telecommunications.
In addition to his time in Japan and London, Seth has had multiple opportunities to live, study and travel abroad. Some of the highlights include: a month in China volunteering teaching English to underprivileged youth, a trip to Australia for the 2009 World Parliament of Religions, a week-long Unitarian Universalist Service Committee service trip to Haiti, and a 6-week trip to Costa Rica during his 2019 sabbatical where he trained to be a yoga teacher.
Currently, Seth spends the majority of his time either at church or with family. His spouse, Elizabeth, is the settled minister at First Parish Dorchester. Together, they live in Revere, MA with their four children: Mira (8), Theo (7), Elias (5 in July), and Phoebe (2). With two dogs rounding out the family, there is never a dull moment in their household! In his (limited) free time, Seth enjoys walks on the beach or in the woods, reading science fiction or fantasy, cheering for the Red Sox and Celtics, and dabbling with technology.
